S4F Parent Coaches

Amber Long, BS

Amber Long, BS

I began my work helping families in 2002 at the ANASAZI FOUNDATION. At ANASAZI, I  worked directly with the youth as a trail staff and later as a coach for parents during the often tumultuous time of their children transitioning home from treatment. During my time at ANASAZI, I witnessed hundreds of families undergo deep change and grow together in peace.

My coaching framework is based on the philosophy of the Arbinger Institute, an international peacebuilding organization.  Arbinger's philosophy on personal relationships dives beneath typical behavioral approaches and focuses on how to help things go right on a deep level. I have been facilitating Arbinger courses since 2002. Since then I have taught over 125 seminars to families in need. In addition to my work as a facilitator, I am currently the Director of Intervention Services for Arbinger. I also co-direct many of Arbinger's group coaching courses and mentor newly trained Arbinger facilitators and coaches.

Beyond my work as a coach and facilitator, I enjoy hiking, camping, traveling, and playing games with her husband and two daughters.

Amy Trombetti, MA - Special Education & Administration

As a current elementary school director and former special education teacher I love interacting with the kids.  I have worked with students and parents for 14 years.  I have been fortunate enough in my career to have experience in many areas.  I have taught all subjects in K - 8th grade and supervised progress for the high school students.  I have taught gifted and talented children and those who have severe behavior and learning problems.

I cannot diagnose disabilities but I can educate parents and students in many different ways. I can give examples of modifications that will help, I can educate parents about their rights and interpret law. I can help parents effectively prepare for their child's IEP (Individualized Education Plan) meeting. I can also be resouceful to parents who have children that have learning disabiliteis by identify ways of addressing and teaching a new concept or skill to their child in a variety of ways.  I know what methods work best for successfully addressing learning disorders and look forward to helping you help your child.

Diane Trettin, MS - Speech Language Pathologist

Diane Trettin, MS - Speech Language Pathologist

As a Speech Language Pathologist I have worked with clients of all ages but find that working with children is the most rewarding. I have worked in school districts for over 12 years and in that capacity have worked with students from the ages of 3 - 21. As a school Speech Pathologist I work with a wide variety of disabilities from articulation to autism, fluency, receptive and expressive language skills.

A Bachelors and Masters degrees in Communicative Disorders have been followed by classes and training sessions to improve skills in diagnosing and treating Speech Language challenges for children. I am certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association.

Correcting some speech challenges is fairly easy, however, others far more complex. For that reason accurately diagnosing speech and language issues requires in person consultation followed by one on one personal assessment by a Certified Speech Language Pathologist.

Although I cannot diagnose from a distance, when provided with diagnostic information, I can offer suggestions for homework, remediation, etc. Over the many years of working with students, it has become apparent that to truly improve speech or language skills it takes parent training, involvement, caring and assistance and, just as learning any new skill, it takes practice. With appropriate training, as a parent, you can learn to integrate many techniques which will enhance your child's progress with speech/ language development into the child's daily routine. I look forward to working with you to increase your child's speech and language development.

It was love at first sight!  Although I was pursuing a career as a CPA, when I taught my first life skills class in October, 1975, I was hooked.  Since that time, I have never looked back.  The years that followed have been most rewarding.  I turned a talent of story telling and a passion for learning, into creating Cognitive Life Skills curriculum that have helped thousands of people turn their lives around.  I look forward to sharing this information with you.
